However, if a client said as much to me, I would advise persistence. There are several really good reasons why I should continue with this blog:
- That really important new client could be about to look at my site, and if he or she clicks on my blog link, it will help to cement and reinforce the messages I am trying to put over in the site itself. The blog should show me as a skilled and experienced consultant and, importantly, it should show that I am aware of the world around me and have a creative attitude.
- The need to create regular blog posts prompts me to think in a lateral and creative way - what used to be called "thinking outside the box" back in the eighties, but seems to be called "Blue Sky Thinking" these days!
- The blog gives me an outlet that allows me to vent any reaction I may have to current events or news, and to share anything I think has relevance to the world of small businesses.
- It is impossible to cover every question that I could be asked within my website, so the blog gives me an opportunity to publish my thoughts on different aspects of my work - see my notes on what makes a good PowerPoint presentation, for example.
